Job Summary:
The Preservation Technician is responsible for the expert repair, restoration, and maintenance of wood-based retail fixtures, display units, tables, chairs, and other store furnishings. This role focuses on preserving the look, function, and quality of high-traffic retail assets while maintaining the brand’s visual standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and assess the condition of wooden retail fixtures and furniture for wear, damage, or structural issues.
- Perform skilled repairs including refinishing and part replacement to restore items to their near original condition.
- Restore and refinish display units, shelving, counters, chairs, and tables using appropriate materials, stains, and finishes.
- Ensure all restoration work aligns with the company’s aesthetic and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area either on-site or in a designated shop.
- Document completed repairs and materials used for internal reporting or inventory purposes.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in carpentry, furniture repair, or restoration.
- Proficient in hand tools, power tools, and finishing techniques (sanding, staining, sealing, etc.).
- Strong eye for detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to match stains, grains, and finishes for seamless restoration.
- Familiar with working in fast-paced retail environments.
- Physically able to lift/move heavy furniture and work in tight or awkward spaces.
- Valid driver’s license
